What is the Third and Survey Community Fund?
We are an informal, grassroots community initiative consisting of six local citizens who care deeply about Tombstone and its residents. We voluntarily pool resources to provide assistance and support for community needs.
The Third and Survey Community Fund is not a corporation, registered nonprofit organization, or organization recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization.
Important Donation and Tax Disclosure
Contributions to the Third and Survey Community Fund should not be represented as tax-deductible charitable contributions.
Donors should consult their own tax professional regarding the tax treatment of any contribution they make. The Fund does not provide tax advice or represent that a contribution qualifies for a federal or Arizona charitable deduction.
Our purpose is community assistance—not providing donors with a charitable tax deduction.
How Community Contributions Are Used
The Fund is intended to support direct community needs in and around Tombstone. Examples of assistance may include:
🧸 Children's Christmas gifts, winter coats, shoes, and school supplies for local children.
🐾 Donations and support for the Tombstone Small Animal Shelter.
🍎 Holiday meal assistance and other essential household needs.
🏠 Essential home furnishings for families experiencing hardship.
🚗 Emergency vehicle repairs when a vehicle is necessary for basic transportation.
🪖 Complimentary stays for military veterans through our community hosting activities.
❤️ Other community assistance approved under the Fund's operating guidelines.
Six-Person Accountability
The Fund operates under a six-person accountability system.
Fund expenditures are reviewed by the six designated organizers, and no expenditure is authorized without the required agreement of the accountability panel.
The organizers maintain records of contributions received and expenditures made from the Fund.
We believe community fundraising should be handled honestly and transparently.
Upon reasonable written request, donors may request information concerning the Fund's general financial activity, including contributions received and community expenditures, subject to appropriate privacy protections for donors, recipients, minors, and other individuals.
